Build strong early reading and writing skills with Phonics Workbooks: Book 2, a bright and engaging workbook designed to help children practise Phase 2 phonics through short activities, games and guided exercises. Created by Rachel Russ, this workbook supports young learners as they move from recognising individual sounds to blending, reading and writing simple words and sentences.

Focusing on the Phase 2 sounds ff, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng and nk, the workbook provides targeted practice that helps children consolidate the phonics skills they are learning at school. Activities cover a range of essential early literacy abilities, including letter recognition, blending for reading, reading one-syllable words, reading captions and sentences, letter formation, segmenting for spelling and writing simple words. The exercises are designed to be short and manageable, helping children practise a little at a time while building confidence through repetition. 

The workbook follows the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised phonics approach, one of the validated systematic synthetic phonics programmes widely used in UK primary schools.
