Spy School Secret Service the Graphic Novel
When a young spy-in-training is assigned to protect the President, Ben Ripley discovers that his most dangerous mission may be the one where he has to work alone.
Spy School Secret Service follows thirteen-year-old Ben Ripley as he takes on his first solo field assignment after proving himself through a series of increasingly dangerous experiences at spy school. This time, Ben is sent undercover to the White House, where he must identify a SPYDER operative who is planning to assassinate the President. Although Ben has received training from some of the CIA’s most experienced agents, protecting the President is far beyond an ordinary school exercise. Surrounded by security personnel, political figures, secret passages, suspicious individuals, and potential enemies, Ben has to rely on his developing skills while trying to determine whom he can trust. The mission becomes even more complicated as the threat draws closer and Ben realises that the person behind the plot may be much closer than he expected. His lack of experience could make him an easy target, but his ability to think creatively and act under pressure gives him a chance to uncover the threat before it is too late.
The fifth novel in Stuart Gibbs’s Spy School series combines espionage, action, humour, mystery, and school-life adventure into a fast-moving story for middle-grade readers. Ben’s mission allows the series to expand beyond the training environment and place him in a high-security setting where mistakes can have serious consequences. Alongside the central mystery, the story continues to explore Ben’s relationships with his friends and mentors, as well as the challenges of becoming a capable spy while still being a teenager. The combination of secret identities, surveillance, unexpected twists, and a race to stop an assassination gives the novel a strong sense of momentum, while Gibbs’s humorous approach keeps the story accessible and entertaining. As Ben attempts to protect the President and expose the SPYDER operative, he must learn that successful espionage depends not only on technical skills but also on observation, quick thinking, courage, and trust.
